On television, I have been a part of Kusum, Pavitra Rishta, Saaya and Koshish Ek Aasha to name a few.

You have worked in different mediums. What’s the difference between them?

I have done theatre and am currently doing TV and films now. It’s just that the story and the characters are different, nothing else. The environment becomes homely when you are working for TV because we are together for years, so that gives a good feeling.

Which medium do you prefer the most?

I find theatre more interesting as I get to see the audience and their reactions immediately.

What differences do you find in the industry after working for so many years?

I had done a serial on Doordarshan called Phoolwanti, then I did Itihas and some more, but those serials used to come weekly. So, we used to shoot for just three days in a week. We used to work slow and steadily. But from the time daily soaps have started, challenges of all the departments have increased.

Please share some details about your current show.

In my current show, Tujhse Hai Raabta, my role is very different as I have always played very positive roles. Here I play Ahilya, who is a mother, a grandmother and is the only one who dominates the whole family; no one is allowed to speak in front of her.

How is off-screen relation with Kalyani aka Reem Shaikh?

We have a beautiful relation off-screen as well, we have lots of fun and even have our dinner and lunch together. If anything new happens with her so she comes to tell me first. She is very hardworking as her focus is only work.

On being a Maharashtrian

I have been a Maharashtrian in Pavitra Rishta as well as Kusum but the look in this is different, the way we Maharashtrians dress up on any occasion, I dress up every day in the serial.

What is the secret of your happiness?

It’s just if you work with good people, the mood remains good.
