Dance + is one level up this season and choreographer Punit Pathak cannot rave enough about Fik-Shun, the known American dancer, winner of So You Think You Can Dance Season 10, with a belief that dancers here on the show are no less!

Accompanied with Bir Radha Sherpa, Punit made a brief stop in Chandigarh to talk more about dance.

“Come Saturday and you will see Remo Sir’s squad fight with our teams and results are going to be dazzling,” he promises.

Personal note

A dancer-turned-actor-turned choreographer and captain on Dance +, he has a number of shows to his credit. “See, this is just a platform. What you take or make out of this depends on the individual.”

In his journey, he considers Remo (D’Souza) his friend, philosopher and guide. “Now where do you find a man who with his debut director risks a bunch of newcomers?” he asks. ABCD and ABCD 2 to his credit, Punit believes it’s important to stay grounded. “Fortunately for me, on the reality stage I tasted success and failure simultaneously; so I put all my efforts in improving my act.”

While this dance show has been like coming home for him, as Dharmesh and Shakti have been his compatriots for long, he prefers to take up lots of off screen work too, being a stage director and choreographer for loads of stage shows and telly soaps.

Director’s hat

By no means it’s the end of the road for him. It’s direction that Punit wants to test next! In fact, he loves telling stories. In most of his dance acts, he always tries to give more than dance, not just scintillating, superbly synchronised steps but a little more. “It’s my dream to direct next,” says Punit.

Was he dating Lauren Gottlieb?

“With Lauren, I have had one of the most successful dance partnerships. I have been linked with Lauren, Mouni (Roy) and Shakti (Mohan) too. Now I couldn’t have dated all three...so you know!”

Meanwhile, you can check out his moves at Dance+ Season 3, every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm on Star Plus.
