Success comes at a price. If Steve Jobs dressed in his staple, blue denims and black turtleneck, to save time, in order to give to world the iPod, iPhone, iPad; it’s Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey who is under fire for his ‘five meals a week’ routine for it clears the day for more important things. But then, he’s not the only one to go to punishing limits to maintain his position, there have been examples aplenty in celeb world.
Extreme discipline
To look like what she does, Jennifer Lopez lives life in an extraordinary manner. Touching 50, her rippling abs and million dollar body is the result of extreme discipline. Eating ‘clean’ translates to no coffee or alcohol, something that she’s done for years now. Each day starts with a sweat session.
Known to never to skip a workout, she trains with Tracy Anderson and David Kirsch, with High Intensity Interval Training and platypus-walk being her signature moves. She takes each workout like ‘a fighter going into a ring’. As for exceptions, she does have coffee – only decaf — and socialises over a salad.
In fact, her day starts with a 90-calorie shake; she then starves till lunch, which has only veggies. The singer finishes her dinner by 6:30 pm; a combination of protein and quinoa. This star loves to take her huge-fan following on fitness trips, like when she took the 10-day ‘no carb, no sugar’ challenge at the beginning of the year.
No cheating
Tiger Shroff is known for his moves on the dance floor as much as for his martial arts prowess, and as the Bollywood joke goes — this young star ‘lives’ in the gym. Soon to be seen in Student of The Year 2, Tiger works out all seven days a week, maintaining body fat percentage at an astonishing 8-12 per cent. Into taekwondo and wushu for years, he works out twice a day — strength training in the morning and mixed martial arts in the evening.
He follows a strict diet regimen — eating every two hours, he hardly ever gets tempted to break his highly regimented diet, which largely consists of eggs, oatmeal, fruits, veggies and protein shakes. So much so that even on his cheat day, he passes off the temptation for chocolate for he believes ‘no cheats to a good body’.
Secret code
As Kendall Jenner partied last weekend at Coachella Festival, her pictures in a skinny bikini were a testimony to what makes her one of the most sought-after models. The 23-year-old Victoria Secret model reportedly thrives at her 400-calorie a day. Her breakfast like a king consists of avocado over eggs and a bowl of oatmeal. She confesses to exercising all the time, yoga coupled with boxing being her preferred workout.
Runway queen
The tag of “the most valuable Victoria’s Secret Angel” comes at a price. Adriana Lima reportedly spends nine days before the show drinking only powdered egg protein shakes. That’s not about it; 12 hours before the show, she stops that drinking all together! In business for 20 years, she is always ready to get the runway, courtesy regimens like Barry’s Bootcamp. Her definition of a successful workout — a wet t-shirt. She admits post-motherhood, her workouts have only gotten more intense.
Tough call
Actor Kartar Cheema has one of the best bodies in Pollywood and this hasn’t come easy. The actor, who will be seen in Punjabi remake of Singham next, follows a strict diet and workout regimen. Twice a day, six days a week, is non-negotiable, as is his diet.
“To be in prime shape, it has to be a delicate balance of carbs and proteins taken at defined intervals; it’s not like one could just grab a piece of burfi or chocolate on the go,” shares the actor. Chicken and eggs with loads of greens fill his plate. Any cheat meal? Only once a week desi ghee ka laddoo!
