Bollywood playback singer Jyotica Tangri is in Chandigarh to judge singing talent from the region. Yet another reality show to find a few more aspiring names in the music industry! This one calls out all those under 15 and just in case you happen to doubt either the overnight fame bestowed upon by TV reality shows or actually the lack of real fame, she puts to rest both.

“It depends on the artiste. If you have talent and if you are different, you will get noticed and you are here to stay. As for the overnight fame, that too depends on the artiste, how you take it and seize the opportunity,” shares the singer, all set to judge Superstar Singer—Singing Ka Kal. Herself a find of reality shows and originally hailing from Jallandhar, Jyotica never let her aspirations interfere with her academics. “I was 21 when I first ever participated in a reality show, many people don’t know about it. Post that I came back to Jallandhar and completed my graduation.”

And it was only in 2016 that she shifted base to Mumbai before lately giving us hits like Main Phir Bhi Tumko Chahungi from Half Girlfriend.  Having already trained in the Jaipur gharana of music, she, till date, is thorough with her riyaaz.

But making a mark in the Bollywood playback singing requires more than morning practice to make it up there. “Family support is half the struggle won. I have always had the support of my family.” Having said that, “When I went to Mumbai, singer Mika really supported me.” Sure it’s tough out there, but it’s not been a big bad place, in fact, “Mumbai and the industry has been welcoming.”

It is Sunidhi Chauhan she admires the most, “because she is very confident and also Arijit Singh, Neha Kakkar and Sona Mahapatra.”  Having rendered Punjabi numbers in movies like Daana Paani and Vaisakhi List, she does not plan on following in the Punjabi singers’ footsteps. “I would love to give acting a try someday but not right now,” she signs off.

The auditions to take place at Ajit Karam Singh International School, Mohali on March 30
