Four consecutive hit films, a line-up of hit songs, Qismat being the recent one, a well-organised production house and the right attitude to carry the weight of success, Punjabi singer-actor Ammy Virk is climbing the ladder of success fast.
While on a visit to The Tribune office with co-actor Sonam Bajwa for his upcoming film Nikka Zaildar 2, Ammy cannot thank Waheguru, his family and people who stood by him, enough. “I kept doing my job, which was to put in my best and left everything else on time,” says the actor, whose film Nikka Zaildar 2’s trailer has already got over a million views.
“Nikka Zaildar 2 is not a sequel made because it had to be made; the first part left at an unfinished point, and my director and I thought there was more to it that could be said in the second part.”
Low profile
Seen as a style icon, Ammy is known to keep a low profile; it is work, live shows, music and back to work. “Success tastes sweet, but it brings a lot of responsibility; one slip and you are back to square one. I am not afraid of slipping, but that doesn’t mean I stop trying.” As for the style icon, he smiles, “Really, am I? I wear as per the occasion, whatever seems comfortable. I am a ‘desi’ at heart and all my life I have worn clothes as per what suits me and not what fashion demands of me.”
A busy man
Travel, shuttling between song releases and films...production house, what keeps him going? “You can ask me what I depend on for this, rabb de mehar, wishes, a good team and hard work. I am passionate about movies, about my music and about making films under my own banner.”
