Mona
From Beauty pageant to music videos to films, Megha Sharma’s journey in the glamour industry has been an interesting one. Still taking baby steps into Pollywood, this girl is in absolute love with the camera.
The beginning
During the Miss India pageant a casting director saw me walk the ramp and signed me for a music video. The song, Lavaan Jatti Ne, was released in 2017. More videos followed and by and by I got parts in films like Prinday, Teri Meri Gal Ban Gayi and Musafir.
My swag
My swag is my warm nature. I like being Ms Popular. I am a people pleaser. That does land me in trouble sometimes but many a time, random people I have met, have recommended me for work just because they like my friendly vibes.
My Pollywood favourites
AmmyVirk and Mandy Takhar. Ammy’s adaptability to transform into any character that he plays is inspiring. Mandy is to the point while emoting her scenes, which is too good. I also worked recently with Guggu Gill ji and I am impressed by not only his professionalism but also his humble attitude.
Style file
Before I got into acting, I was comfortable with Western wear. Not anymore. It’s Punjabi suits that I am in absolute love with now.
Accessories or not
While work demands me to be dressed to the tee, it’s colourful earrings that I am particularly partial to. A watch is a must whenever I step out.
Fitness funda
I am not a huge fitness fanatic. But very regular with yoga. Its beauty is that you can do it anytime, anywhere. I walk in between shoots. I try to keep my step count high.
Food fads
I am not too fussy with my meals. I ensure nutritious breakfast and lunch and go frugal with dinner. It’s usually few egg whites or seasonal fruit like apple or guava for dinner.
Social obligations
In my free time I make the most of social media. It’s lovely when people write back appreciating your work, it’s also a handy tool to enhance one’s professional presence.
Up next
While films from the South have come my way, due to my parents’ resistance, I haven’t done one so far. My next is a three-month schedule for an untitled film. Few more Punjabi films are in my kitty too.
Here to stay
While earlier the uncertainty in the field made me question my decision. Now that I have work, I want to give my 100 per cent to every bit – big or small – that comes my way. I am here to stay.
