Tell us about your role in Ishq Mein Marjaean.

They haven’t given me any name yet, everyone calls me just Mausi. My character is on the edge, neither positive nor negative. I keep changing sides, sometimes I am with Arohi (Nia Sharma), sometimes on Deep's (Arjun Bijlani) side, sometimes on Tara's (Alisha Panwar) side... My character is big and mysterious, full of suspense.

What is your fondest memory of childhood?

I always loved doing some or the other curricular activities, like participating in elocution competitions, debates, fancy dress competitions, etc. I and my younger sister used to do small plays and then act in front of our parents. My dad always acted in his college days and my mom learnt Kathak at a very young age, so maybe their aspirations and thoughts came to us.

Tell us about your first work in front of the camera.

I was active and confident about stage performances but when it came to camera, I did not known where to look and what to do. I was only 16 and my co-actors were very co-operative. I think that was my schooling in acting again and I enjoyed that phase of my life.

You are also a trained dancer, how has it helped you in acting?

Well, I started dancing at the age of 12; I acted in a dance drama in which we were trained to do a lot of folk dance, a lot of Kathak, Bharatnatyam and other styles of Indian dance. We did around 125 shows, we were all children and it was a ballet dance drama. It was a wonderful experience and that was like a very strong base in my life, which really helped me go through acting.

You have been balancing well between Marathi and Hindi projects.

I love acting and language is not a problem for me. I have acted in Hindi maybe much more than Marathi projects but all over the world people call me Kishori Shahane, a Marathi actress. And I definitely would prefer a Marathi film over a Hindi one.
