The concept of a show revolving around a nuclear disaster is surely nothing new. Well, now, we have HBO’s recently released series, Chernobyl, which is being touted as quite terrifying.

Creator Craig Mazin’s bleak five-part mini-series does away with the expected horror tropes audiences have become familiar with, and, instead, delivers an up-close, completely terrifying personal look at Ukraine’s infamous 1986 nuclear power plant explosion — including the government cover-up and devastating calamity that followed. The unseen monster, followed by the even more damaging accomplice of the lies the government tells to save their reputation, come together in a way so catastrophic that viewers are convinced to call Chernobyl as the scariest thing on TV in years. You can catch the latest episodes of Chernobyl on Hotstar.
