Padmavat, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, saw a huge success in just two days of its release. Set in the 13th century India, the movie is about Rani Padmavati (played by Deepika Padukone), the wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh (played by Shahid Kapoor), who is known for her beauty and valour. After hearing the news of her beauty, the reigning Sultan of Delhi, Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh), becomes obsessed with her and goes to great length to fulfil his desire. Chandigarh cinegoers give their take...

A must watch

The movie was great. I love Deepika Padukone and she looked absolutely stunning. Dialogue delivery was fantastic and I will definitely watch this movie again. - Dr Shefali, dentist

So-so

It was good but did not reach up to my expectations. The action scenes as well as the songs were great. Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone did a good job with the movie and dialogue delivery. I fail to see the reason behind all the controversies. There was nothing in the movie that would degrade Rajputani shaan. - Daksh Bawa, student

Slow but great

The first half of the movie is slow but the background music and dialogues are too good. Shahid Kapoor’s acting was perfect, better than I had expected. Ranveer is my all-time favourite actor and he killed it with his Khilji character and I love the war scenes between the two armies. The only part I did not like was the songs. They were slow. - Ashish Malik, student

Will watch again

An awesome movie, must receive 10/10 ratings as dialogues, costumes, dance, songs and almost everything about the movie was A-one. The actors did a fantastic job in bringing the characters alive. It was bit depressing at the end but all in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It’s a must watch and I come again. - Aman Rehsi, student

—As told to Raj Birinder Singh Malik
