Jassi & the Gujarat di kudi

Singer Jasbir Jassi, who created a stir in 90’s with his hit song Dil le gai kudi Gujarat di… is now all set to recreate his own number once again in the film Sweetiee Weds NRI.

The film stars Himansh Kohli and Zoya Afroz in the lead roles. Says Jassi, “Dil le gai kudi Gujarat di is a song close to my heart. When I sang that song, it was a massive hit and I am thankful that it got recreated for Sweetiee Weds NRI. The song fits the theme of the film and Himansh and Zoya look like a dream couple dancing on the tunes of the song.”

Most of Jasbir’s songs have been chartbusters but his all-time favourite song is Dil le gai kudi Gujarat di. “In 1989, I was at the National Integration Camp in New Delhi where I met my Gujarati kudi. The girl was from Bhuj in the Kutch area of Gujarat. She later married someone else. In the same year, on my way to Gwalior when I was feeling upset and depressed during the journey, and was in a fit of emotion I told my friend Bhuteja, Dil le gayee kudi Gujarat di. He loved the lines and decided to compose a song on the same lines,” says the singer himself on the creation of the iconic song.
