The world of mythology
FILM: Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb
The third installment of the Night at the Museum series, this Shawn Levy direction stars Ben Stiller in the lead, with great actors like Owen Wilson, Robin Williams, Steve Coogan and Sir Ben Kingsley carrying the movie through. The third installment is about the mythology of the ancient tablet that brings the museum fixtures to life, like it did in the previous installments. Here’s what Chandigarh audience had to say about it.
Predictable stuff
“The first two installments were far better! Like all sequels, this one too gets monotonous and predictable during the first half itself. Robin Williams, however, takes the cake, getting you emotional each time he appears on screen.”

Robin excels
“Though the movie was just about average, seeing Robin Williams on screen was extremely heartwarming. Though the movie lagged a little in between, it got us intrigued towards the end again.”
- Harshita Khanna, student
Very stale
“Ben Stiller was at his usual, paranoid, fidgety best, which helped maintain the essence of the ‘Night at the Museum’ movies. But, I loved the character played by Ben Kingsley. Overall, the movie is stale.”

FILM: Ugly
Dark & thrilling
This drama-thriller, written and directed by Anurag Kashyap, opened the New York Film Festival earlier this year and was also screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. The film stars Ronit Roy, Vineet kumar Singh, Surveen Chawla, Tejaswani Kohlapuri and Girish Kulkarni, and revolves around the kidnapping of the stepdaughter of the police chief. After hits like Dev D and Gangs of Wasseypur, has Anurag Kashyap been able to strike a chord with the audience yet again?
Ace director
“I love how dark and dingy Anurag Kashyap’s movies are; they are very true to life, and such is the case with Ugly. The wait due to the ‘smoking warning’ debate has been well worth it. Anurag has established himself as an ace director yet again with Ugly.”
- Niharika Jadhav, advertising professional
Very beautiful
“Ugly is beautiful! The dark, deep characters Anurag delves into is always fascinating. He makes us look at our gray side through them, leading us to rethink our intentions in a given situation.”
- Anuradha Sharma, freelancer
Gripping quality
“Some ends are left hanging in the film. We don’t know much about the girl who goes missing before she does. Not all your questions are answered by the time the film reaches the climax. Anurag’s movies, however, have a certain gripping quality. So, it’s worth at least one watch.”
