Television actor from Chandigarh Kanchan Gupta shifted base to Mumbai in 2013 to pursue her acting passion.  Back in Chandigarh to promote her show Kya Haal Mr Panchal, Kanchan wants Chandigarhwalas to see her show and give their opinion. “I play the role of a mother with different shades. She is witty, she is into planning and plotting as well.”

Having done theatre and few TV shows, Kanchan says TV is a satisfying medium. “Apart from this, it is also one medium that reaches every household,” she adds.

On her stint with comedy, Kanchan tags it as a joyful experience. “I have played hi-end dramatic kind of roles, I am doing comedy for the first time, and let me tell you it is way more difficult to make people laugh than cry.”

On how television treats the ‘maa’ characters, Kanchan has no issues with how her character has been etched. “I can’t talk about others, my role as a maa is likeable and thoughtful as well.”
