Music loses its favourite disciple

Hindustani classical vocalist Guru Pandit Ganesh Prasad Sharma (89), bestowed with prestigious Tagore Akademi Award by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi passed away Tuesday morning leaving his admirers across India in a pall of gloom.
Credited with over seventy years of excellence in classical music Ganesh Prasad was creator of new ragas - Madhuyamini and Charutodi - he authored a book Raag Parveen and composed over 500 classical bandishes. Friends and disciples share their thoughts on his contribution to music.
Huge loss
The traditional yug of classical music education has come to an end with the demise of its custodian Pandit Ganesh Prasad, who established the shudh sangeet culture in the region. He was instrumental in establishing the Music department at Kurukshetra University. He nurtured many well known performers who owe their success to this rishi. - Pandit Yashpal

Pure soul
Our revered guru Pandit Ganesh Parsad ji was a sangeet yogi, a master musician who taught disciples with utmost affection and patience. He had strengthened the pure shudh gayaki in the North West region.
