Women and their position in society is the hot topic today. As more and more stories spill out, one wonders what, why and how of the whole dynamics that let men indulge in behaviour not acceptable at all.

Something on the lines is the show – Roop - Mard Ka Naya Swaroop. Through its three protagonists, the show brings out the tussle of the times. As Donal Bisht and Neil Bhatt come calling to City Beautiful, they are happy that the show resonates with the viewers.

While Donal plays Ishika – a modern woman claiming her fair share under the sun, Neil plays Ranveer – Roop’s cousin and his opposite in all ways in this Colors show.

Neil for the first time is playing a negative shade and he is loving it. Back on the small screen after two years during which he did a Gujarati film, Bhanwar, he is happy that fans are backing him up.

“Before Roop, I had only seen how the camera pans the villain at those intense moments – I am so enjoying it,” says the actor adding, “I am playing basically the ‘man’ all these women are today naming and shaming with #MeToo.”

Ishika is glad being part of a show that has three sides – an empowered girl, a man who respects women and the one who does not. “Soon after the teasers were out, I got to read comments like, ‘Ishika, Roop is going to give a rose, please accept it’ is indeed sweet.”

While Neil and Ishika worship their work for this is what they wished to do in the first place, they maintain that it’s lot of hard work. “Just because this job doesn’t need any pre-requisite qualifications, it doesn’t mean it’s easy – one has to get involved physically, emotionally, mentally in order to live a character, ” shares the beautiful actress. Ask them about casting couch, surprisingly, they answer in negative. Donal admits that she had her share of doubts before she moved from Delhi to Mumbai.
