OTT platforms have become the medium for content-driven work and there are few who have been following its growth from the very beginning. One of them is actor Mukul Chaddha, the poster boy for advertisements, who has done movies like 'I, Me Aur Main' and 'Ek Main Aur Ek Tum'. However, it is web series that made him a household name.

He started his digital career from Zero KMS, which starred Naseeruddin Shah as the lead. Later, as Jagdeep Chaddha of The Office Season 1, Mukul is spreading laughter across the country.

Mukul was in Chandigarh for the promotion of 'The Office' Season 2 along with Sayandeep Sengupta. Armed with the punch line, Naya Staff, Naya Laugh, this season welcomes ace comedian Mallika Dua as its new employee.

About his role in 'The Office', Mukul says: “I think viewers from Chandigarh will relate with my character—Jagdeep Chaddha because he is a typical Punjabi or shall I saw Fun-jabi guy.”

Mukul says: “Digital platforms are just like T20 cricket. You see, just the way big players like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid entered the game much later when they realised that the game was big, the same way big-budget actors, who like content-driven cinema, are jumping in the bandwagon.”

Adds Mukul: “I have done movies that did great but similarly there were movies that didn’t not see the light of the day. There are many factors at play when you work for a movie and then there’s a pressure of first three days box office collection. But, in web-series, the word of mouth counts. You may not see our series today, but if someone suggests, you will be tempted to watch it.”

Binge-watching 'Mindhunters' Season 2 and World War II in HD Colour, Mukul loves many series but his wish to act as Heisenberg, played by Walter White in Breaking Bad, if it is ever converted into an Indian series. Mukul loves to read and is into non-fiction these days. He is currently reading 'Fire and Fury Inside The Trump White House' by Michael Wolff.

Struggle is fine

The other member of their office team is Amit Sharma played by Sayandeep Sengupta. Sayan is a graduate in hospitality because his father owns a restaurant, but like we all fated beings, his fate took him to Mumbai. Behind every success, there’s struggle and although he acknowledges his struggling period, he is okay with it.

He says: “Every person has to struggle in creative field. So, I am okay with the fact.”

About the show, Sayan adds, “It feels great to come back with Season 2 of 'The Office'. People here can instantly relate to the show. I have personally received a lot of love from the people of Chandigarh and I really do hope they enjoy Season 2 as much.”

Team work

Set in Faridabad, the show chronicles the 9 to 5 lives of the employees at Wilkins Chawla as they navigate through their mundane routine that invariably gives rise to comical situations. The 15-episode mockumentary where typical office characters find themselves in atypical situations is here with more fun-jabi jokes, hilariously awkward moments and unexpected relationships. Created for Applause Entertainment by BBC Studios India; 'The Office' Season 2 is directed by Rohan Sippy and Bumpy.

'The Office' Season 2 is now streaming on Hotstar VIP.
