One of the most-awaited releases, Padmavat has been in the news ever since its announcement. It will also be released in other cities on January 25 with some changes suggested by CBFC after Karni Sena and other Rajput groups objected that the film distorted history.

The official trailer of Padmaavat has broken all previous records, crossing over 50 million views on digital platforms like Youtube and Facebook, and the Ghoomar song has received over 25 million views on Youtube!

The magnum opus is the biggest Bollywood release across the world.

The film narrates the tale of the fierce queen of Mewar, Rani Padmavati, who was known for her beauty and valour. Sanjay Leela Bhansali became the first Indian to direct an opera in Paris and Rome with Padmavati. The opera made its debut at the 51st Spoleto festival, and will now be retold in the form of a visual extravaganza. — Dharam Pal
