While most playback singers are going sour with T-Series over the issue of royalties, Gulshan Kumar’s progeny seems to be setting new benchmarks of fame and success.
Though Khushali Kumar, who is the daughter of late Gulshan Kumar, is an acclaimed Delhi-based fashion designer, who first shot to international fame when the two-time Grammy Award winner, singer Leann Rimes performed live at the Grammies in a flamboyant dazzling dress created by Khushali, she is now turning to acting!
Khushali will soon be seen making her acting debut in the video of the song titled, Mainu Ishq Da Lagaya Rog, which is a rendition of Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahi.
Having created designs for a long list of clientele, including super-sensational singers Shakira, Melanie B, Ashanti to Carmen Electra, Tatum, Jenna Dewan in the West, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt among several others here in B-Town, the movers and shakers swear by her designs.
“Well, I have always been interested in looking good, designing and acting. I remember, as kids, my father would send my sister and me to singing classes and I would bunk them, come back home, stand in front of the mirror, drape sarees and dance!” she recollects the source of her passion from her memory.
While her designs have found their way on Paris ramp-walks, Khushali, like her father, believes in continuously pursuing excellence. Having donned the cover and main-spread of several famous magazines, the pretty designer is a fitness and yoga enthusiast too, and is in fact often mistaken for one of the models herself.
“The only reason why I took up acting so late is because my brother was apprehensive whether I would be able to deal with the pressures of being in the limelight, but after all the convincing that it took from my end, my brother finally let me feature in this video that has been sung by my sister,” she shares.
Khusali is all set to make her debut in the video Mainu Ishq Da lagaya Rog grand music video, a concept to recreate a song from Aamir Khan-starrer classic Dill Hai Ki Maanta Nahi, as a tribute to her father.
The song is being recreated with romantic and modern beat and a catchy melody. Sung by Tulsi Kumar, it’s topping the charts.
