My Bigg Boss journey was a war… declared vindicated Gautam Gulati on Sunday night. As the Bigg Boss season 8 saw its grand finale, fan followers heaved a sigh of relief — the best won — was the common sentiment. This season, like other seasons, has its fair share of followers and detractors, and amidst all this, the show still went on.

While Bigg Boss fans are already yearning for the next season; we talk to some fans on the highs and lows of the season gone by!

Gautam all the way

“Gautam is a true winner,” declares Sapna Gulati, a BPO employee, who has been religiously following the show since its inception. The sentiment is reciprocated by Rahul Taneja, relationship manager with a leading bank in sector 8, “Gautam played a fair game. Preetam opted for money over the title; Karishma, the turncoat, was no match for his impartial play.”

Piyush Sharma, BCA first year student at DAV College-10, adds on, “Gautam is a genuine person and he remained the same throughout the game be it his feelings towards Diandra Soares or respect towards Puneet Issar Ji,” says this college-goer who voted for his favourite contestant fiercely. Post the finale, he is elated, “The online Gautam fan club was already flashing the report of his win in the morning itself, so, the late night announcement didn’t come as a surprise. But, yes I am a happy man (or a fan).”

Gautam sure knew the pulse of his followers,

“My straightforward nature and clean game impressed the viewers,” he said in an interview post win.

The best segment

Ugly catfights, steaming romances, fist fights kept the viewers hooked to the reality show. “One gets to see different shades of grey at any given time in the Bigg Boss home,” says Rahul who bears his partner’s anger at being glued to the television post hectic his schedule at work. Piyush enjoyed Sonali Raut’s tryst at house with the two ghosts. “She scared the wits out of the inmates narrating her tales of two ghosts (imaginary friends?) — Chotu and Riya,” laughs Piyush.

Gautam-struck, oh yes, there are a whole lot of girls drooling over him at this moment. Sapna labels Gautam –Ali’s love and hate scenes as ‘the’ moments they had loved to watch. “The way Ali would kiss Gautam on face; their kiddish pranks were super cute. Gautam would get angry but took control of his temper well in time,” says Sapna, a graphic designer, who labels Gautam with his hot body and sensitive nature as any girl’s dream guy!

Missing Salman Khan

Yes, Bigg Boss kept its audience engaged but weekends weren’t the same since Salman left the show. “I never liked Salman, but he was the ideal host,” shares Piyush. “Salman is feared by one and all, Farah Khan could never take his place,” offers Rahul who points out that Halla Bol segment made sure that Salman isn’t missed.

Coping with withdrawal symptoms

Now that Bigg Boss is over, the next task is to deal with the withdrawal symptoms. So, what is filling the time slot now? Khatron Ke Khiladi and Ashoka are going to be obvious replacements. “Look, Bigg Boss viewers aren’t soap watchers,” says Rahul, “So they will find something in the same genre. While Piyush and Sapna eagerly awaits for the next season, it’s Surbhi’s mother who is a happy soul, “I had promised my mother that I will help her in the kitchen post Bigg Boss, the time has come,” signs off Surbhi.
