There was little common between reality show presenter and producer Naved Jafri and corporate girl Sayeeda. He was from Mumbai, and she, from Texas… there was little they shared, however, when the duo came together, they made a strong team. Together they are enjoying a stint on Sony TV’s show Power Couple post a wild card entry. We talk to this couple married for four years now, on their innings in reel and real.
Then & now
Mine is an arranged marriage. I met Sayeeda through a common friend at a five star hotel. She spoke and spoke and spoke…I kind of liked that. Only people with a clean heart do that much talking. Two more meetings and within two months we got hitched. Why waste time man! Life did take a 360 degree turn post marriage. Earlier, all I could think of was partying, now I lead a more settled life. One starts to think of stuff like investments and more.
Discovering Sayeeda
Power Couple seemed like a fun option. It wasn’t easy convincing Sayeeda about it but once she did say yes, she was in it full on. On the sets and otherwise too, I am discovering her each day. I had no idea if she would be so patient. Power Couple has been a fun ride. Now she knows what it means to be in the entertainment industry. You could be up shooting throughout the night till early hours of the morning and yet look fresh and be smiling.
Up next
Boogie Woogie is what we started to earn pocket money, we had no idea that it would become so big. I feel proud that we introduced new dance forms like hiphop on Indian telly, before this it was just filmy dance. I have couple of TV projects and a film in the pipeline that I am aiming to produce and direct soon.
A fun-filled ride
I made a move to Mumbai post my marriage to Naved. It was a roller coaster ride to begin with. Mumbai, marriage, joint family, work culture and I was at sea. But with Naved around, it was a fun riot all along. Though I have been brought up abroad, yet, we were truly connected to our values and system. By and by I have made our lives beautiful and pleasurable. Power Couple wasn’t easy to say yes to. I asked so many questions that Arbaaz called me ‘Question Devi’. But once in it, it is super fun. I didn’t know Naved could do all that. I had no idea if he could ride a cycle that too ulta and that fast. And, trust me my Hindi is so much better for we spoke in Hindi all the time!
