When best friends become life partners, the chemistry is all the more dazzling. Isha Kakaria and Jaskaran Singh exemplify this fact. From becoming friends to getting married, the two have been together for nine years. While Isha is the founder of an NGO, Jaskaran runs an event and wedding management company. In fact, they manage both the ventures together, so their mantra is work hard, party harder.
It’s a friendship story
Isha: I totally credit the NGO I started where he joined and it got our ball rolling. It’s always been more of a ‘friendship story’ for us than a love story. Having met 11 years back, but not even considering each other for four years and then suddenly becoming the best of friends has been the best thing that happened to me. We were meant to be.
Jaskaran: I hardly realised my better-half was right there in front of me all those years. But gradually, ‘love’ just happened. Driving around with her, I realised I want her on the front seat of my car always.
Becoming man and wife
Isha: When we realised, we were already a step up. We were already fighting like a married couple, talking like best friends, flirting like lovers, protecting each other like siblings. Officially, we tied the knot in October, 2012.
Jaskaran: We spent most hours of the day with each other so wher parents advertising for a groom in paper, it got me contemplating why not! The ‘will you marry me’ just popped out when she showed me the newspaper.
It’s all the same
Isha: Only that we don’t have to travel to meet each other now! Other things look undisputedly the same. Jaskaran: I don’t have to go pick her up from her place!
Living together means
Isha: I would describe it as ‘oh-what-fun’!
Jaskaran: I feel complete.
Partners in everything
Isha: From cooking together, travelling, cuddling, doing community service, spending time with family, earning money, eating, sleeping, pampering each other with a barrel of surprises... Did I just mention almost everything?
Jaskaran: Cliché, but yes, really we love to do everything together.
Now this is annoying!
Isha: He makes me repeat words and things a lot! Just because he thinks I sound cute saying them. He wants to hear them over and over again. Like, really? And his PlayStation of course!
Jaskaran: Alarm or any sound just doesn’t reach her. That level of sound sleep! Why God, why?
Couple goals
Isha: Farther you go, closer you get. Travel goals are all we have!
Jaskaran: Travel and try every food and adventure around the world!
