When Jodhaa met Guru

It all started during the shoot of Mani Ratnam’s Guru when Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai fell in love with each other. But it was before the release of the film that Abhishek proposed to Aishwarya.

Back in 2007, when Aishwarya and Abhishek were in New York prior to the release of Guru, Abhishek went down on his knees in a hotel’s balcony and gave a ring to Aishwarya. Sharing details on how they met and got married, Aishwarya was at her candid best during a recent chat show.

The actress also shared that they got engaged on the sets of movie Jodha Akhbar. Ash said, “We’re doing Khawja Mere Khwaja, sitting as a bride, and I am like, oh my god this is surreal, all happening on-screen, off-screen, this is bizarre. Ashutosh (director) is like you are engaged and I am like, yeah.” Speaking of Hrithik’s reaction, she further added that the actor gave her a thumbs-up for her surprise engagement. Well, that’s quite interesting! 

Meanwhile, on work front, Aishwarya will be next seen in film titled Gulab Jamun opposite hubby Abhishek Bachchan. The real-life couple will be reuniting on silver screen after nine long years. They were last seen together in movie Raavan in 2010.
