Dressed in Rajastahni traditional attire, as Manav Gohil and his reel daughter Chahat Tewani took the centre-stage on Friday in Chandigarh, it was difficult to make out that the bond was only reel!
Young Chahat aka Kesari did look fierce as a wrestler out to grab her fair share under the sun. She giggled in all innocence, “That was all thermocol,” only to be lovingly hushed by Manav aka Hanumant Singh.
The accent was bang on as she expressed her desire to get ‘teeraining (training)’ under her father and be a wrestler. They switched on and off between reel and real; and as we got down to know more, Manav admitted, “We have been shooting for about six months together, and she is almost my daughter,” as Chahat put her arms lovingly around him to show that it’s true.
Set in Rajasthan, it’s a father-daughter story and fitted Manav’s career path just right. “I was looking for an issue-based show and Kesari Nandan was one. The fact that it’s a sports drama was an icing on the cake.” A sportsman, he having played football and been a swimming champ, some kushti was more than welcome!”
“We trained in kushti for about a month, it was so much fun,” chipped in Chahat, who on her own loves to swim. Trained with a national coach, the duo is currently showing some wrestling prowess at Color’s Kesari Nandan. Confident, well-versed and happy, Chahat revealed, “In the current track, Bapu sa is training my rival and I am being trained under his rival to win the Kesari Nandan title.” All this, while she posed for selfies, speaks to fans and get photographed with them.
The sets double up as her study corner, this class five student shared elatedly, “I study in between the shots”; something she’s prepared for a long haul. To be an actor was her long-term dream. A fan of Alia Bhatt and Tiger Shroff, she hopes to work with them in future!
As for Manav, with two decades of acting behind him, it’s one of the most exciting times for actors. Up next, he would love to play a spy in a thriller, something that reel daughter totally approves of.
