Puranjay Mohan, 18, a young and talented individual, whose hobby is to make electronic circuits and test them. This young achiever is the winner of the State Science Exhibition conducted by SCIT and has been a part of The National Science Congress which was held earlier this year.
Area of interest
Currently in the eleventh grade (non-medical stream) at G.M.S.S.S, Sector 8, Chandigarh, he has a keen interest in electronics and communication and plans to specialize in the same area. Puranjay, who hails from Himachal, says that under the guidance of his teacher-turned-mentor, Paramjeet Singh, he is able to practice, constantly innovate and also improvise on a lot of ideas related to the his interest in electronics and gets the full support from his parents as well.
Puranjay from the very beginning had an interest in electronics; he got access to Internet in sixth grade and after that, there was no looking back. The amount knowledge and material that was available over the web gave wings to his passion. Besides making and testing electronic circuits Puranjay loves to get his hands on repairing and understanding the mechanism and machinery of wrist watches which were prevalent in olden times.
Feathers in the hat
Puranjay has also led the winning team from his school for the Atal Tinkering Laboratories under the NITI Ayog mission and bagged a grant of Rs 20 lakh. Besides these, he has created about four to five working models which have been a part of various science exhibitions pan India. Furthermore, the young lad has recently been working on a model which is related to digital solutions during disaster management and his proficiency is C plus plus and programming helped him create the code as well as the circuit for this model, his next big project, which is being prepared for another upcoming science exhibition.
Puranjay is good at website designing as well; he is the head of Faraday Science Club in school and has conducted a few workshops for students on digital solutions as well. His study based on the functionality of cycle tracks in Chandigarh has been awarded at the state and district level.
Passion is everything
Puranjay says, “All my skills and knowledge, everything that I have grasped in all these years it is purely out of passion and my interest in the field of electronics.’’
All his achievements add to his motivational factor and constantly inspire him to do a much bigger and a better job in the future. Puranjay also loves photography and some day aspires to contribute as a photo journalist.
