‘83’: Punjabi singer Harrdy Sandhu says cricket is his first love

Hardevinder Singh Sandhu, who is better known as Harrdy Sandhu, has been roped in to play Madan Lal in Kabir Khan’s sports drama, ‘83’. 

The news was confirmed by the handle of Reliance Entertainment on social media on Wednesday.

It said: “Punjab's heartthrob @HARRDYSANDHU is prepping to play gritty all-rounder #MadanLal. #CastOf83 @RanveerOfficial @kabirkhankk #MadhuMantena @vishinduri @83thefilm #Relive83”.

Actor-singer Hardy couldn’t hide his excitement to be part of co-star Ranveer Singh’s team.

Harrdy shared that it was his father’s dream that he played for the Indian cricket team. 

The singer shared an emotional Instagram post on Thursday.

It said: “It was my Dad’s dream for me to play for India. It was my dream to win a World Cup. What I couldn’t do in real life because of an unfortunate injury, going to do that in the reel life”. 

He added: “Doing a film about my first passion —Cricket, is a very emotional feeling for me. I’ll be playing Madan Lal Sir, who at the time when I played U-17 India was also the bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy. I am thankful to @kabirkhankk sir for believing in me and a special thanks to @ammyvirk veera. Thank you @castingchhabra bhaaji”.

Ranveer will portray the former Indian cricket skipper Kapil Dev in the film.

83" will chronicle India's win under Dev's captainship, when the Men in Blue defeated West Indies in the final to clinch their first-ever World Cup trophy in 1983.

Touted as the "biggest sports film" of the country, the film slated to be released on April 10, 2020.
