Last October, writer-producer Vinta Nanda had filed an FIR against actor Alok Nath accusing him of raping her 19 years ago while they were shooting the TV show ‘Tara’.
After she shared her ordeal, several actresses, including Himani Shivpuri and Sandhya Mridul, also came forward and accused the veteran actor of sexual harassment. Alok has denied all claims. The actor was later granted an anticipatory bail after a court session.
According to Mumbai Mirror, the 62-year-old actor will play the role of a judge condemning child molestation and sexual abuse in a film revolving around the #MeToo movement.
In the film titled, ‘#MainBhi’, the judge will have a strong take on sexual harassment.
While talking to the publication, he revealed: “I’m not doing any films at the moment. This was something I shot for a while ago.”
He added, “Is there a problem? You sound sad that I’m doing. It’s a puny role for poor producers. Let it release.”
Khalid Siddiqui, who plays one of the leads along with Shawar Ali and Imran Khan in the film, said Alok Nath gave a speech at the end of the film condemning molestation.
Khalid said the film raised the subject of child molestation, "particularly with regard to boys".
Sonali Raut is the female lead in the film which will also feature Mukesh Khanna and Shahbaz Khan as lawyers.
According to the report, the film was shot in Bhopal and is being helmed by Nasir Khan.
