Somveer runs a hydroponic company where he helps people grow their own food at home. On the other hand, Sohila has a pre-school and activity centre called The Tree of Life where she takes classes for toddlers in the morning and has post-school activities in the afternoon and evening. These two entrepreneurs make for an absolute fun couple. Here’s their love tale.

Love blossomed over a phone call

Somveer Our love story began over a phone call. We spoke once and I felt this is it. Don’t know why, but I just felt it.

Sohila Yes, over a phone call. Our cousins were friends and one fine day he called and that was where it started.

Marriage happened, surprisingly!

Somveer We met a couple of times and spoke a lot. I’m still not sure why she agreed to get married to me. I totally ‘messed up’ a lot of those meetings. A few months later her family came over to Chandigarh to meet mine and she ‘booked me’. I think my family met her the day we decided to spend our lives together.

Sohila We got married in April 2010. When we met I was in Kolkata and he was in Delhi, so we travelled to and fro to spend some time together. Everything he did was so wrong to a practical person like me, but somehow that was one time I let the heart rule the head...and I haven’t regretted it.

And life became a happy rollercoaster ride

Somveer Hmmm... It’s happier for sure but also busier with the kids and our individual start-ups. We try to spend as much time as we can (and I’m usually the busier but less productive one). It’s been a superb fun ride till now, but as they say in the movie — Abhi toh party shuru huyee hai.

Sohila A lot changed. I learned to prioritise another person as much as myself. We moved out of the country, till then we were still living for ourselves. Then our kids came and another rollercoaster ride started. But it’s been awesome.

Fun of living together

Somveer An absolute adventure. I used to be able to fit only about a cupboard of clothes at a time. Now, we have nine in the bedroom (guess who the other eight belong to!) She has a lot of patience with me rearranging the room every month! We’ve lived in a one-room apartment in Manhattan and now, in a big house in Chandigarh. It really doesn’t make a difference. Home is where the heart is.

Sohila Very companionable and comforting. We were at one time working together from home and we’re together 24x7 and it didn’t get on my nerves...so that should say something.

We time

Somveer Watching TV and eating out. We try and take a walk together every day. It’s the best de-stress for me.

Sohila Watching TV, walking, and travelling together.

If I could change something

Somveer Her aversion to risk. It borders on paranoia.

Sohila His tendency to procrastinate.

When it is free time

Somveer I do painting, reading and cleaning (I’m part Mary Kondo here!)

Sohila Watching TV, reading, enjoying a cup of coffee and spending time with our girls.

Couple goals

Somveer Travel as much as we can and provide our daughters all that we can. We’re both are very family oriented and most of our idyllic vacations involve bus loads of family.

Sohila Travel a lot more and make sure we and our girls have a sense of self and realise the importance of happiness over all else.

The wow factor

Somveer She is forgiving to a fault. Clear honest and agenda less. Gorgeous and such a great conservationist.

Sohila His sense of humour and his absolute confidence in me.
