Hema Malini: ''I knew Dharmendra is the one, but his first wife, kids never felt my intrusion''

Actress-turned-politician Hema Malini has shared inside details about her personal life and future plans. In conversation with Deccan Chronicle, she explained how she knew Dharmendra was the one.
Talking about her marriage to Dharmendra and his first marriage, Hema said: "The minute I saw Dharam ji, I knew he was the man for me. I wanted to spend my life with him. I also wanted to make sure that the marriage hurt nobody. His first wife and children have never felt my intrusion in their lives. I married him, but I never took him away from his first family."
When asked about the secret behind her beauty and Hema turned dismissive. She said: “What beauty? What secrets? I’ve never thought of myself as beautiful. It’s others who keep reminding me that I am beautiful; then I think about it. Am I really beautiful? I think the secret of staying beautiful is to not think about it.”
Dharmendra and Hema have shared the screen space in films like ‘Sholay’, ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’ and ‘Dream Girl’. Dharmendra was 19, when he got married to Parkash Kaur in 1954. They have two boyd—Sunny and Bobby Deol, and daughters—Vijeeta and Ajeeta. Dharmendra and Hema Malini tied the knot in 1979 and are parents to daughters Esha and Ahana Deol.
