In a turn of not-so-surprising events, Netflix will officially no longer produce Marvel’s shows. The streaming giant has officially cancelled both The Punisher and Jessica Jones, which were the only two remaining Marvel shows waiting to be cancelled. The Punisher ended with season 2 and Jessica Jones’ upcoming season 3 will be the last on Netflix. However, both the shows will remain on Netflix for subscribers.

The cancellation wasn’t surprising due to the status of other Marvel series on Netflix. Daredevil was cancelled in November 2018 after three seasons, Iron Fist was cancelled in October 2018 after two seasons; Luke Cage was also cancelled last October after two seasons and The Defenders only ran for one season. All these cancellations are being linked to the launch of Disney’s own streaming platform, Disney+. Since Marvel is owned by Disney, all shows would be streamed on Disney+, which is set to launch soon.
