The tragic end

Robin Williams: World was shocked when they heard of the death of their favourite comedian Robin Williams in 2014. He was battling depression during his last days and it was a rough patch of his life both personally and professionally. He had died from “asphyxia due to hanging.” 

Jiah Khan:  It was shocking for everyone to digest this young girl’s suicide. Her mother still blames Suraj Pancholi, her then boyfriend, for Jiah’s suicide. The biggest reason, they say, was loneliness and depression.

Guru Dutt: He is most famous for making lyrical and artistic films, starting with his 1957 film Pyaasa. He is said to have been mixing alcohol and sleeping pills. His death may have been suicide or just an accidental overdose. It would have been his third suicide attempt.

Nafisa Joseph: Not only a model and MTV video jockey, she was also the winner of Femina Miss India Universe 1997 and was a finalist in the Miss Universe 1997 pageant. At the age of 26, she hanged herself in her flat in Versova, Mumbai. According to her parents, Joseph took the step because her marriage was called off.

Silk Smitha: This Southern sensation’s life may have been a tragedy but made Vidya Balan a hit after she played the lead in the movie The Dirty Picture based on Silk Smitha’s life. As the film showed, there were apparently many reasons that led her to take the big step of committing suicide.

Pratyusha Banerjee: This TV actress was found hanging in her Mumbai apartment. It is believed  that her complicated relationship with boyfriend Rahul Raj had led her to commit suicide.

Kuljeet Randhawa:  She was found dead hanging from a ceiling fan. She also left a suicide note that read, “I am no more able to handle the pressure of life so, I am taking a big step of ending my life.”
