18 students awarded cash prizes

Ludhiana, April 6

The Piara Singh Parmar Memorial Society organised second endeavour in the committee room of the Vice-Chancellor, PAU on April 5.

Dr BS Dhillon, vice-chancellor, presided over the function and distributed student aid cheques of Rs20,000/- each to 18 students who were from weak financial families.

He advised the students to avoid wasteful expenditure and encouraged them to adopt simple living.

PS Sekhon, president of the society, encouraged the students to face economic hardship with courage.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
