Ludhiana, May 4
As many as 70 aspirants attended the selection trials conducted by the District Football Association (DFA), Ludhiana, at Guru Nanak Stadium here on Friday. These trials were held to select the Ludhiana Under-19 team for the upcoming Junior Punjab State Football Championship scheduled to be held from May 10 to 13 at Mohali.
The president of the association, Kanwar Jatinder Singh Bajwa, said the selection panel comprising Ram Lubhaya of Railways, Ranvir Singh of Guru Nanak Public School, Mohinder Singh, Jasbir Singh, Kulbhushan Singh and Sarabjit Singh watched boys during the trials. The selectors finalised 20 players, who would take part in the forthcoming championship, he added.
The chairman of the association, Shivtar Singh Bajwa, along with senior vice-president Rupinder Singh Sandhu and general secretary Varinder Sharma was present on the occasion. In the last edition of the championship held at Malerkotla, Ludhiana had emerged winners.
The selected players include Harjot Singh, Kulbir Singh, Ranvir Singh, Prabhjot Singh, Shaganpreet Singh, Sukhpreet Singh, Nishan Singh, Amardeep Singh, Luvpreet Singh, Amitoj Singh, Albert John, Harmanpreet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Robin Singh, Baljinder Singh, Aryash, Sifat Singh, Davinder, Akashdeep Singh and Divnoor Singh.
