In a bid to stay abreast with latest updates in technology, the Ludhiana Commissionerate has shortlisted as many as 300 policemen, who will be given advanced computer training. The purpose of training is to equip city policemen with advanced knowledge of computing so that they can deal with any technological update or glitches for better policing.

Pertinently, the development came after senior policemen noticed that due to lack of computer training, sometimes work at police stations suffered. The Police Department had to hire experts from private sector to solve technical issues.

While confirming development, Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, RN Dhoke, said, “As many as 300 policemen from Constable to Inspector rank have been chosen for advance computer training, which is relevant to the routine police functioning.”

“For this purpose, the Ludhiana police have also tied up with some private schools and Skill Development Centre, where these policemen will get computer training,” he added. “The skill they acquire will not only be helpful in day to day police functioning, but also assist to run the upcoming Cyber Crime Cell and the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) smoothly,” said Dhoke.

He said two officers — ADCP (Headquarter) Jasvir Singh and ACP (Headquarter) Rupinder Bhati — have been entrusted the task to conclude the training.

Dhoke said, “In the CCTNS project, lots of online updates will be required every day, which includes uploading challan copy along with other daily crime records on the net. If our policemen are fully equipped with advanced training, they will be able to run such projects in a better way. Their efficiency will also increase.”
