Jaskiran Singh said the tenders for various other proposed projects would be floated soon as detailed project reports were being prepared.

The Board of Directors, including Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu and IIA Punjab Chapter chairman Sanjay Goel, Congress MLAs Sanjay Talwar, Surinder Dawar and councillor Mamta Ashu, were present on this occasion.

The officials of consultant firm AECOM also gave a presentation about the Smart City mission projects.

Goel said the progress of the mission was slow not only in Ludhiana but in a majority of 100 cities being covered under the project. Three projects have started and tenders for three more works have been called.

The DPRs of more than 10 projects are being prepared, he said. The mission was launched on June 25, 2015.

Ludhiana was selected in the first list of the cities to be developed under the mission in 2016.

However, not even a single project under the mission has been completed here so far.
