4 held for kidnapping Moga girl

Four youths were arrested by the Khanna police for abducting a girl from Moga.

Those arrested have been identified as Ismail Sheikh (28), Firhan Sheikh (25), Muhamed Hanif and Sheikh Mohamed, all residents of Goa. A woman, who accompanied them, has also been taken into custody for further probe. Two toy pistols were also recovered from them. They came from Goa and were arrested when they were going towards Delhi. Stating about it, SSP Khanna Navjot Singh Mahal said he received a tip-off from IG Jalandhar Zone Arpit Shukla that a girl from Moga has been kidnapped by some youths.

Nakas were set up. Surinder Kaur, a constable, spotted a vehicle and informed her seniors about it going towards Rajpura. A Quick Response Team stopped the vehicle near Bhattian village near Khanna, while the vehicles of the SHO Doraha and other police teams were following the vehicle. The driver tried to speed away the vehicle, but they were overpowered by the police.

The SSP said the abducted girl, a resident of Ferozepur, was residing at Moga. She visited Goa some time back. Ismail Sheikh, who was known to the girl along with Mohamed Hanif and a woman, boarded a plane from Goa and landed at Delhi from where they hired a taxi and reached near Moga. The other two youths named Firhan Sheikh and Sheikh Mohamed boarded a plane from Goa and landed at Amritsar and they also joined the others in the vehicle to abduct the girl.

After the abduction, the parents of the girl reported the matter to the Moga police. A message was flashed throughout the state by the police and the Khanna police arrested the accused along with the abducted girl.

As per the SSP, they would hand over the girl to the Moga police and those arrested would also be handed over to the Moga police, where the case of abduction had been registered under Section 365 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
