Ludhiana, December 11
As many as five persons, including a six-month-old child, was injured after a coffee machine exploded during a wedding ceremony at a local hotel on the Dugri road here today.
The injured have been identified as Karanpal Singh, Mahul Batra, her six-month-old child, coffee machine operator Parampal Singh and juice stall operator Rubal. The incident took place in the afternoon when the guests were attending the wedding of Dilprit Singh of Salem Tabri.
Suddenly the coffee machine placed on the corner exploded and a few parts fell on the five persons who were standing near the machine. The hot water kept in the machine also fell on the injured.
The sudden explosion led to commotion and people attending the marriage party were seen running helter-skelter for cover.
The injured persons were soon rushed to the hospital for treatment. Soon after receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and started investigation.
The police said the explosion took place due to the sudden rise of temperature in the machine.
Davinder Chaudhary, SHO, Model Town, said necessary action would be taken after recording the statements of the injured.
