Office-bearers and activists of various medical, social and educational organisations have vowed to adopt 'Ek Chamach Kum Chaar Kadam Aage' slogan for participating in a fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, cardiovascular ailments, cerebrovascular accident and chronic kidney disease.
An oath was taken in response to the call made by the Rotary International District 3090 during their pan-India campaign Stop-NCD. Enthusiasts announced to curtail intake of salt, sugar and oil by one spoon daily, besides starting regular brisk walking.
Rotary District Governor (3090) Rajiv Garg said office-bearers and activists of various organisations led by leaders of rotary clubs at Ahmedgarh, Malerkotla, Malerkotla Midtown and Dhuri had announced to launch a coordinated movement to spread awareness about causes and consequences of non-communicable diseases which had since emerged as a major factor behind more than 60 per cent untimely deaths in the region.
Camps are being organised to persuade masses to keep updated about their main health numbers - weight, blood pressure and blood sugar. — OC
