Notorious travel agent and immigration firm owner Nitish Ghai faced eight fresh FIRs for fraud. The count of FIRs has now risen to 18.
In fresh FIRs, the complainants are Satpal Singh of Bholewal village, Vinod Kumar of Ludhiana, Vengadas Alam of Tamil Nadhu, Khushwinder Kaur of Bathinda, Arvind Kumar of Malerkotla, Jatinder Singh of Fatehgarh Sahib, Chandar Shekhar of Khanpur village, Sanmeet Singh of Jawaddi.
Apart from Nitish, others who were booked along with the agent are Tajinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, owner of Universal Medicare Dhyan Singh Complex, Gurpreet, Kanica, Preet, Amandeep Gupta and Sonia.
Complainant Satpal and Vinod were alleged duped by the agent on the pretext of sending them to Canada. Tamil Nadu-based man Vengadas said Ghai cheated him and others on the pretext of sending them abroad.
Another complainant Khushwinder Kaur said she was duped of Rs 2.80 lakh for arranging a
visa of Canada. Arvind Kumar alleged that the accused cheated him of Rs 25,000 on the pretext of arranging work permit of New Zealand.
Jatinder Singh and Chandar Shekhar were cheated of Rs 1lakh and Rs 30,000, respectively. Sanmeet Singh was also duped of Rs 50,000. Sources said the process to attach the properties of the accused immigration firm owners was underway.
