Banyan Art Gallery is organising an exhibition themed art zest at the Upper House cafe. Around five artworks from different artists are on display at the cafe where visitors can also relish various delicacies apart from devouring the beauty of the art.
Speaking about the exhibition, Natasha Khanna from the gallery says that as part of the ongoing exhibition at the cafe, artworks by different artists will be put on display every month. Speaking about the reason for organising the exhibition at a cafe and restaurant, she said not only art lovers could enjoy artworks leisurely as they sip coffee and enjoy delicacies. “In fact, the visitors at the cafe would be attracted to art. As people who don’t have enough time to take out for visiting art exhibition, have artworks on display. Good artworks always attract anyone, so display of artworks at cafe would turn many people into artlovers,” Natasha said.
To educate visitors about the artworks, there is a promotional leaflet placed on every table. “That has been working well for the leaflets inform visitors about the artworks on display while they enjoy the food. Those who are not much into art, then can appreciate the artworks much better,” she says.
The exhibition includes the work of Reva Verma, from the city, Deepa Ved Pathak, Jagannath Paul, Paramesh Paul and Subrata Gangopadhyay.
According to Jasdeep Bindra, owner of the Upper House, it was a great beginning. “People come and start admiring art while they have food. It not only improves the ambience, but also helps create understanding and appreciation for art. It is a win-win situation for the artists as well as us. Artists get a good platform and we get good artworks,” he adds.
