Amrish helps GMT Academy lift winners’ trophy

Fine all-round performance by Amrish ( 41* and 6 for 18 runs) helped New GMT Cricket Academy, Haibowal Kalan, register 6-wicket victory against Warrior Cricket Academy to lift the winners’ trophy in the inaugural edition of the Friendship Cup Cricket Tournament (U-15) organised by Kamla Lohtia College Cricket Academy that concluded at the college ground, near Daresi here today.

In the final, batting first, Warrior Cricket Academy scored 130 runs in 19.1 overs. Prince was the highest scorer who made 30 runs. He was followed by Sajid, Sunny and Sham who contributed 24, 21 and 16 runs, respectively.

For New GMT Cricket Academy, Amrish was the wrecker-in-chief. He bowled four overs and captured six wickets for 18 runs. Abhay and Bhavik claimed one wicket each after giving away 13 and 22 runs, respectively.

Target set by Warrior Cricket Academy turned out to be meagre one as New GMT Cricket Academy made the required runs after losing four wickets with one over to go.

The architects of the victory were Amrish and Abhay who remained unbeaten on 41 and 37 runs, respectively, while Karan chipped in with 28 runs.

For Warrior Cricket Academy, Vishal grabbed two wickets for 19 runs and Himanshu secured one wicket for 28 runs, while Sham scalped one victim for 29 runs.

Amrish of the winning side was declared man of the match and the player of the league, while Sunny from the losing side was named the best batsman. Sajjan of Kids and Club Academy was adjudged the best bowler and Abhay of New GMT Cricket Academy was declared the best wicket keeper.

Dr Vimlesh Gupta, Principal of Kamla Lohtia SD College, gave away prizes to the winners. Coaches Bhuvnesh Kumar and Vicky Sekhon were among others present there.
