Annual convocation at Malwa Central college

Ludhiana: The 60th Annual Convocation of the Malwa Central College of Education for Women was held on Monday in the centenary hall. Dr BS Ghuman, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, was the chief guest for the convocation ceremony. Dr Naginder Kaur, principal, of the college introduced the faculty members to the worthy guest. The programme started with ‘’shabad’’ recital. The college principal also presented an annual report highlighting various achievements of the students. The chief guest declared convocation open and degrees were awarded to 34 MEd students, 231 BEd. students and 25 diplomas to students of fashion textile. Dr Ghuman congratulated all students who received degrees and prizes. After the closing of the convocation ceremony, the academic prizes were awarded on the basis of marks obtained in the university examination to those students who qualified all examinations by the college during the session. A total of 19 prizes to MEd students and 89 prizes to BEd students were given.

Extension lecture on career planning

An extension lecture on the topic of ‘career planning and ppportunities for the graduates and post graduates’ was organised at Kamla Lohtia SD College, Ludhiana, by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce and Management. The resource person on the occasion was RK Bharti, director Panacea Bharti Institute Pvt Ltd. He familiarised the students about the various career options available for them and the way to choose the right option for them.

Alumni meet at GHG Harparkash college

The GHG Harparkash College of Education for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, near Jagraon, organised an alumni meet to celebrate and refresh old relationships. College principal Baljeet Kaur Gill extended heartiest welcome to all members of alumni association. She said it was an occasion when students gather at their alma mater, revive their memories, look forward for new interactions and maintain relationships and bonding with alma mater. She said we in this institution tried to inculcate the qualities of respect, empathy, love, honesty and above all humanity besides giving professional training.

Psychology lecture at Khalsa College for Women

The Department of Psychology at the Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised an extension lecture on ‘counselling skills and careers in psychology in India and abroad today’. Nayanika Singh, psychologist and co-ordinator, Eurofit Sports Research Institute, Vienna, Austria, was the resource person during the occasion. She apprised the students of the basics of counselling skills needed to become a good counsellor. She introduced the students to various practical techniques such as blurring, mirroring, magnification and also upcoming therapies like Neuro-Linguistic programming. The second session consisted of detailed outlay of various careers in psychology in India and abroad. — TNS
