Annual sports meet
Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Ayurvedic Medical College, Sarabha, celebrated its annual sports and cultural meet amid great enthusiasm. Students participated in sports activities including athletics, throws, cricket, volleyball, badminton and others. Amrik Singh, acting chairman of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Charitable Trust, was the chief guest. Cultural programme commenced in campus auditorium and audiences enjoyed folk songs, solo dances, group dances, poem recitation, gidha, bhangra etc. New batch of BAMS students were given warm welcome. Principal Dr Satish Shukla congratulated students and staff for organising the event.
Essential items donated in slums
The Rotaract Club of Partap College of Education, Ludhiana, donated essential items to people in slums. Clothes, bed sheets and eatables donated from from students and teachers were distributed among slum dwellers. Principal Dr Balwant Singh praised the efforts of students and staff.
Dental camp held
A free medical and dental check-up camp was organised at the Partap College of Education, Ludhiana on Wednesday. A team of doctors led by Dr Rajesh Arora carried out a comprehensive dental check up of students. Principal Dr Balwant Singh was the patron who initiated the camp initiated with discussion on dental awareness, educating students about common dental ailments, especially stressing on tooth decay, gum diseases and measures to prevent them. Every student was given a patient card, a report summary of the diagnosed problem and recommended dental treatment plan.
Medical workshop organised
Old Students Association of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised a free medical check-up camp in collaboration with the Rotary club of Ludhiana Midtown and Inner Wheel club of Ludhiana on Wednesday. Doctors from various fields including Gynecology, Dentistry, Diet Consultancy, Ophthalmology, Lung Functioning, Cardiology, Personal Hygiene and Pathology provided free consultancy to over 500 students and staff members of the college. Blood sugar test, hemoglobin test, blood group tests, lung functioning test, eye check up, dental check up and ECG tests were held for free.
Artificial intelligence discussed
The Department of Computer Science of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised an expert lecture on “Machine Learning and its Applications” on Wednesday. Well known academician and associate prof , Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr B R Ambedkar from the National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, Dr Renu Dhir delivered a lecture on Machine Learning and other related areas of Artificial Intelligence. Dr Dhir offered insights on Machine Learning and its scope in the IT industry. She elaborated on data sensing, processing and automated decision making through Machine Learning. She also highlighted the real time applications of Machine Learning including face recognition, object detection on WAMI data, Emotion recognition by EEG analysis and Brain machine interface and explained in detail feature extraction, classification and decision making steps of data analysis used in these applications.
Students bring laurels
Students of Kamla Lohtia SD College, Ludhiana, proved their mettle in co-curricular activities by winning prizes in “Festin’o beats”, a cultural show held at the Ludhiana College of Engineering and Technology (LCET), Katani Kalan. Shivam of BCom third year won first prize in extempore and other team from college won second prize in fashion show. Deepika from BCom third year won third prize in “Dance to the Tune”. Principal Dr Shiv Mohan Sharma appreciated the skills of the students and wished them luck for their future endrevaours.
Seminar organised
The Department of Medical Laboratory Technology of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, organised a one day seminar on the topic “Lab Management System”. Dr Naresh Kumar Sood, Senior Veterinary Pathologist, Department of Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, GADVASU, Ludhiana, was the chief guest. In the first technical session, Dr Gurpreet Kaur, medical officer, Sadhar stressed on healthy environment and basic principles related to lab management system. Dr Naresh Kumar Sood delivered technical lecture with hand on experience of different lab managements and emphasised on the proper identification of different blood cells of various species. In third session Dr Savita Jain, senior pathologist from Singhania Hospital, Amritsar, delivered the lecture on “Proper Identification of various diseases via Lab Test”. TNS
