Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Sahnewal, held its 15th annual sports meet today.

Sukhjeet Singh Hara, president, Nagar Council, Sahnewal, was the chief guest on the occasion. The dignitaries were welcomed by director of school Fr William Sahota, Principal Sr Crispin Maria and the school cabinet.

The chief guest declared the meet open by lighting the sports torch.

Seniors students participated in 100 m, 200 m and 400m race whereas tinty tots made the most of clown race.

Dr Narinder Singh Sidhu, Principal of Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, presided over the closing ceremony.

The event kicked off with the most electrifying House-wise events of 400-m relay race and tug of war. “The Best Athlete of the Year” trophy in junior boys’ and girls’ category was bagged by Anup Kullu and Husanpreet Kaur and in the senior category by Kavish Aneja and Sukhmanpreet Kaur, respectively.

Students of Indus House burst into a frenzy of excitement and ran a victory lap around the field as they were declared the “Best house” in sports and arts consecutively for the second year.

The winners of the track and field events were awarded with medals and trophies. Almost all the students participated in different events with great enthusiasm.

The dignitaries highlighted the necessity of sportsmanship in a world riddled with rat race for glory. The sports meet concluded with lowering of the flag and national anthem.
