To welcome 2015, city residents are all geared up and excited. There is a mad scramble for the New Year’s party tickets.

A resident, Ritu, said: “The New Year should be welcomed with a lot of happiness. It is the time to get together. One should not mind splurging during such celebrations.”

Sachita, a student, said: “Tonight, I will celebrate with my friends, but tomorrow, I will orphanage with my parents. “I have brought sweets and gifts for children. We are lucky to have our parents around, but those children are alone. We should share happiness with them and make them feel special,” she said.Markets and malls too wore a “festive look” with colourful lights and decorative items. The residents were seen making the last-minute purchases.

“Such celebrations are incomplete without shopping. Youngsters are in the party mode,” said a resident.
