Athletes’ day out at Sacred Heart

The three day annual athletics meet began at Sacred Heart Convent School today.

DCP, Crime Branch and former captain of Indian National Hockey Team Gagan Ajit Singh was the chief guest and Rupinder Singh Virk, SSP, vigilance, the guest of honour.

Principal Reshmi along with members of the administration, faculty members and students welcomed them.

The event was declared open by the chief guest. It was followed by the march past by various houses, contingents of NCC (Army and Air Wing) and Road Safety Patrol Club. The honour of carrying the torch was given to students Mumukshu Mittal, Ranveer Singh and Tehdil Kaur Pannu — international-level players of chess, golf and skating, respectively, along with Amritraj Kaur, a national-level football player.

It was followed by a cultural performance with breath-taking displays of karate, yoga, aerobics, ribbon dance and ball drill that left the audience spellbound.

The chief guest told students to uphold the sportsmanship spirit. The meet then progressed with competitions of different sports events.
