Baghria centre beat PPS Nabha-XI

Baghria Hockey Centre, Sangrur, toiled hard to upstage PPS, Nabha XI, 4-3 in the sub-junior section in a second round match during the 9th Olympian Prithipal Singh Hockey Festival being organised by Mata Sahib Kaur Sports and Charitable Trust at Jarkhar village near here, on Sunday.

Matches in this festival are played on Saturdays and Sundays under flood-lights. In another match in the sub-junior section, Kila Raipur Hockey Centre proved too good for Baba Mehar Chand Hockey Centre, Bassi Pathana, whom they defeated 7-3. In the senior section, Ferzino Field Hockey Club warded off stiff challenge from Kila Raipur XI before coming out victorious 8-5 after leading 7-1 at the end of second quarter, whereas Akalgarh XI overpowered Shere Sultanpur XI 11-8. —OC
