Ludhiana, October 31
The city police have registered a case against former senior deputy mayor and BJP leader Parveen Bansal for misbehaving with doctors at the Civil Hospital.
Bansal has also remained Ludhiana district BJP president and had contested the Assembly polls unsuccessfully.
A case under Section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 189 (threat of injury to public servant) of the IPC was registered against him. Since the sections are bailable, he can be bailed out.
Notably yesterday, medical services went for a toss at the Civil Hospital, after doctors went on strike alleging misbehaviour by senior BJP leader Parveen Bansal. The doctor sat on dharna demanding action against the leader.
Dr Avinash Jindal from the Civil Hospital, who is also the president of India Medical Association, Ludhiana unit, said on October 28 evening, Dr Harpreet Bains was on duty and senior BJP leader Parveen Bansal not only misbehaved but also assassinated the character of the doctor on duty. Bansal asked the doctor to examine the woman first and also insisted on enhancing the injuries in the Medico Legal Report (MLR) and when he refused, he threatened and abused the doctor, he said.
SHO Police Division 2 Ashok Kumar said the accused BJP leader was yet to get bail in the case registered.
Patwar union demands action against Bains on similar lines
The Revenue Patwar Union in a statement issued said recently, LIP MLA Simarjit Bains misbehaved with the officials at the Gill office. Rupinder Singh Grewal, president of the union, said the MLA misbehaved with the union and also obstructed the public servant from discharging duty, but still the police failed to register any case. He said from November 1, patwaris would not do work of additional circles and then from November 9, additional circle work falling under the Commissioner of Patiala office will also not be performed.
