Ludhiana, February 7
Two persons, armed with sharp weapons, allegedly robbed a blacksmith near Tajpur Road past night. The robbers also thrashed the victim before fleeing the spot. He suffered multiple injuries on his forehead, face, throat and hands.
The victim, Tejinderpal Singh, a resident of Amarjit Colony on Rahon Road, said he was returning home after work around 11:30 pm. “While I was waiting for an auto-rickshaw near Tajpur Road, two persons armed with sharp weapons arrived there on a motorcycle. One of them put the weapon on my neck and asked me to handover the cash to him. I immediately handed them Rs 5,000 I was carrying,” said Tejinderpal. “Even though I requested the robbers to take all money and not harm me, they started thrashing me. One of them attacked me with a sharp weapon and fled the spot,” he said.
Sub-Inspector Surinder Singh said the police had registered a case against unidentified persons. — TNS
