Book recounts life of slum kids
Ludhiana, March 29
A book titled ‘Jhuggian de Lala’ written by Dr Kulwinder Kaur Minhas was released on Friday. A function was held in this regard by Gyan Aanjan Academy with the help of Punjabi Sahit Akademi.
The book was released by Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal. Telling about the book, Dr Minhas said it revolved around the life of kids living in shanties.
“Two types of people live in shanties — one who are beggars and others who are labourers. I come across both type of families and kids from these families come to my school to study. They are very intelligent and some are even working after completing their studies,” said Minhas.
Dr Amarjeet Singh Hayer, former professor and head of journalism, languages and culture department said Dr Minhas imparted education to kids who lived in shanties.
Many times she faces problems but she always deals with them with courage and never steps back, he added.
Sant Seechewal said Dr Minhas is doing great work for society and everyone should extend a helping hand.
