BSNL unions’ elections held

LUDHIANA:Voting to elect unions of BSNL was held here today.

Ludhiana, September 16

Voting to elect unions of BSNL was held here today. Balbir Singh, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU; and Avatar Singh, Jhande, District Secretary, said over 1 lakh non-executive employees casted their vote today.

A total of 18 unions participated in the membership verification on pan-India basis. In Punjab Circle only, two major unions exist. At present, BSNL Employees' Union is main recognised union and National Federation of Telecom Employees' Union is second recognised union.

In Punjab Circle, a total number of voters were 3,953, out of which, over 95 per cent employees exercised their franchise.

In Ludhiana, 493 employees used their right of votes. The results of today's voting will be declared on September 18. Representation at all levels will be given on basis of percentage of votes of each union.
