In its recent guidelines on laying emphasis on ethics, professionalism, care, compassion and empathy as part of AETCOM (attitudes, ethics and communication training) module, the Medical Council of India has suggested that all colleges make the white coat ceremony as part of the orientation programme.

Dr William Bhatti, director, reminded the students of the sacred duties of the noble journey they had embarked upon who emphasised the need for sympathy and compassionate care.

Vice-Principal Dr Tejinder Singh encouraged the students and spoke about the importance of the white coat ceremony. He also added that the CMC has always been associated with imparting high-quality medical education and skills.

Principal Dr Jeyaraj D Pandian administered the white coat oath to first-year students where they pledged to practice the art of medicine in uprightness and honour, upholding the dignity of the medical profession and values of the Christian Medical College.
